Ford Canada CEO Diane Craig and Spencer West of Free the Children will be on hand at Maitland Ford this Friday February 26th, 2016 at 11 am to recognize the work done by Sault College and St. Mary High School students.
In the month of October, collaborating with St. Mary’s College and Maitland Ford, Sault College students collected non-perishable items for the “We Scare Hunger” campaign. In October, SCSU always holds a canned food drive known as “Trick or Eat”; this year the collaboration with SMC and Maitland Ford had a fantastic outcome!
Sault College students dropped off 500 paper bags to the surrounding community, asking for donations of non-perishable food items. On October 29th, Sault College and SMC students picked up these donations and filled Maitland Ford Trucks to brim. Sault College students also participated in collections at Rome’s Independent Grocer and at Metro, Churchill Plaza. Donation bins were also located at SMC, Maitland Ford and Sault College.
Through this partnership and campaign, we raised 5700 items and are grateful to all those who donated. The donations remained local and were distributed to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent’s, Pauline’s Place, Women In Crisis, The Soup Kitchen and the Sault College Student Union Food Bank. “
“Free the Children and Ford Canada are coming to the Sault to recognize our students’ efforts and achievements and we couldn’t be prouder of them” says Mario Rocchetta, Teacher, General Arts and Science.
