It’s being recommended that the home of the Greyhounds become the GFL Memorial Gardens.
City staff is recommending GFL or Green for Life Enviromental be awarded the naming rights under a proposed 10-year deal for 750-thousand dollars.
City council will be aksed to give its approval in principle when it meets on Monday with formal approval by way of a byalaw coming back at a future meeting.
The city under the proposed deal would be provided 75-thousand dollars annually and the deal would commence August 1st.
Under the previous 10-year deal, Essar Steel provided the City 1.5-million dollars with the full amount provided upfront.
The RFP was originally issued back in January and was further extended last month after no proposals were received—-3 proposals were submitted by the new May 4th deadline.
