A Desbarats supplier of hops for the Outspoken Brewery has benefited from a federal program that has assisted the agricultural and agri-food sectors in the north.
Fred Post grows hops at his farm and his business is called Northern Skies Enterprises—Sheehan says he maybe the only producer of hops in northern Ontario.
The announcement was for over 356-thousand dollars with the bulk of it going to support the Sustainable Northern Agri Food Products and Productivity Program which is administered by the Sault Innovation Centre.

278-thousand dollars of the funding is being directed to support the Sustainable Northern Agri Food Products and Productivity Program which is administered by the Sault Innovation Centre…

The remaining 78-thousand dollars of the funding, will support a regional study of local and wild food market supply and demand—that research will be done in the northeast.
