City council will be asked at tonight’s meeting to commit to spending up to 20-thousand dollars to cover the costs for a Sault summit planned for this spring.
The event would involve reconnecting with former Saultites and seeking their input and strategic advice on the implementation of the community development plan.
Sault Ste. Marie has experienced a significant out-migration of talented alumni over the past decades.
There are a number of objectives for the event including mentoring and partnering with local businesses, assisting with the recruitment of talent to fill high level job vacancies and seeking input on a new Sault Ste. Marie alumni organization.
The funding would come from a budget already established to implement the community development plan and would allow for website development for the summit and event expenses.
