SportsThe Soo Greyhounds lost to the Barrie Colts 4-1 last night.  Tim Gettinger scored the lone goal for the Hounds — Blake Speers assisted.  The Soo Thunderbirds doubled Timmins 6-3 in NOJHL play.  Joey Miller led the winners with a goal and two assists. Five other players for the Thunderbirds in their victory. Lake State and Bowling Green skated to a 1-1 tie for the second straight game.  Zach Loesch scored the Lakers’ only goal.  24 points from Danielle Boiage helped McMaster defeated Algoma 82-32 in OUA women’s basketball.  Sydney Resch led the Thunderbirds with 7 points.  Jermaine Lyle led Algoma with 11 points but it wasn’t enough as the Thunderbird men lost to the Marauders 86-56.  Three players combined for 33 points in Lake State’s 60-38 victory over Olivet in exhibition basketball.  The men won their game 95-51 over the Comets, led by 17 points from Michael Smutny.  Lake State lost to Grand Valley State in three sets in women’s volleyball.
