40th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald

This is the 40th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald – marked with an annual ceremony at the Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point tonight beginning at 7 and preceded by a concert by Whispers of the North – a Gordon Lightfoot tribute band.   The service includes music, reflections, and a Call to the Last Watch Ceremony during which the bell is tolled 29 times for each crew member, plus a 30th ring to remember all Mariners lost on the Great Lakes.
