The University’s Board of Governors has announced that former Algoma District School Board Superintendent Azima Vezina has been named the new President and Vice-Chancellor effective October 23rd.
She served as a member and chair of the Algoma University Board of Governors for three years and as a member and Vice-Chair of the Council of Chairs of Ontario Universities.

A statement from the university indicates that after a rigorous six month nation-wide search process, Asima was the unanimous top choice of the Algoma U Presidential Search Committee.
Dr. Celia Ross served as the Acting President since December 2016.
