Sault Ste. Marie: St. Mary’s College (SMC) soccer teams completed a dominating season Monday night as the senior girls and boys teams encored the junior teams’ triumphs in their title games on Sunday.

In the senior games last night, Lucas Stefano notched the only goal and Dan Gioia produced the shutout as SMC beat Superior Heights 1-0 in the boy’s final to cap off an unbeaten season in league play.  The Knights head into the NOSSA ‘AAA’ play-downs May 26 in Sudbury with a 7 and 0 record.

In the girl’s final, Taryn Lamorie scored twice to lead SMC to a 4-2 victory over Korah.  Makenzi Chartrand and Taryn Gazankas had the other goals for the Knights who improved to 8-0 and 1 in league play.  They will also be in Sudbury for the NOSSA championships.

In junior championship action on Sunday, the boy’s final saw St. Mary’s beat Korah 3-0 thanks to a pair of goals by Noah Carter and perfect goalkeeping by Aidan Sicoli.  Cam Baber had the other goal for the Knights who will also head east to the NOSSA ‘AAA’ championships on May 26.

The SMC girl’s squad rolled past Korah 5-0 thanks to a two goal effort by Jayme Meser.  Also scoring for the Knights were, Brianna Barban, Olivia Mulholland and Madison Caruso.  Adriana Lake provided the flawless goalkeeping as St. Mary’s finished 7-0 and 0 on the season.

All four SMC squads also captured their respective regular season crowns.
