The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been brought in to look into an incident involving city police and a 55-year old man last month.  City police are only saying that the SIU has been called in to investigate an in-custody injury to an adult male.  Police had been responding to a 911 call back on March 26th and ended up arresting the man for breach of a recognizane following a brief struggle.   He had been taken to Sault Area Hospital but was released without treatment and taken to the Algoma Treament and Remand Centre.  The next day the man was returned to the hospital where further tests found broken bones.
