Algoma Public Health statement… Town of Desbarats (Between Highway 17 and Government Road) Algoma PUBLIC HEALTH

Effective January 6, 2016 Due to a loss of water pressure, a Drinking Water Advisory has been issued for the Town of Desbarats. (Between Highway 17 and Government Road) During a Drinking Water Advisory the water is not to be consumed or boiled for consumption. Boiling the water does NOT render it safe. A safe alternative supply must be provided. (ie. bottled water). This Drinking Water Advisory will remain in effect until samples confirm the safety of the water and Algoma Public Health lifts the Advisory. WHAT TO DO WHEN THE WATER RETURNS When the water service is restored, we advise that you open each cold water tap, one at a time, and let them run for about 20 seconds each. This should release any air trapped in your water lines. If the water is cloudy or contains grit, continue to run the cold water taps until the water runs clear. You may still use the water for flushing toilets, doing laundry, and bathing (children should be supervised to ensure they do not consume the water while bathing). If you have any questions, please contact your local Algoma Public Health office.
