CitySSM    A City by-law up for final approval for Monday’s council meeting spells out just how much of a break residential customers will get when it comes to the sewer surcharge.  Presently residential customers are charged at a rate of 100% of the water rate.  Orginally it had been proposed that the rate be dropped to 70% of the water rate but council approved a further amendment reducing the rate further.  With the approval of the by-law, the rate for those using up to 15 cubic metres per month will be reduced to 62% while those using between over 15-cubic metres up to 250 cubic metres the rate will be 82% of the water rate.  The new rates will be implemented immediately with the approval of the by-law.
