SportsThe Soo Thunderbirds fell 2-1 to the Soo Eagles last night.  Bradley Hofelich scored what proved the game winner 3:38 into the third period. Roman Gaudet netted the other Eagles goal, Khadyn Butterfly netted the lone goal for the Thunderbirds.
Lake State Lakers fell to Minnesota State-Mankato 5-1 — C-J Hayes scored his third goal of the season for LSSU.  Algoma University basketball — the Thunderbird men lost to the Lakehead Thunderwolves 73-65.  Nathan Riley led Algoma with 17 points.  Mariead Dunn led the Thunderbird women with 11 points in their 66-45 defeat against Lakehead.  A split for Lake State against Ferris State on the basketball court — the men lost 86-82, despite 20 points from Akaemji Williams.  The women beat the Bulldogs 62-51.  Courtney Jacobsen led the winners with 14 points.

City High School Curling at the Community First Curling Centre yesterday — Team Lemieux of St. Mary’s downed Team Masters of Superior Heights 10-1 to take the boys title.  Team McLean of Superior Heights defeated Team Simbirski of Korah 9-4 to win the girls title.  All four teams will compete at the NOSSA championships in Sault Ste. Marie next month.
