(Sault Ste. Marie, ON December 12, 2016) – Together with the helping hands of many community supporters, Sault College’s Hairstyling program once again organized and hosted a successful ‘Haircuts for a Cause’ event. The event, which took place this past weekend, provided approximately $3,000 in complimentary haircuts to community members in need.

“We are tremendously happy with the success of this year’s event,” says Jordin Boniferro-Knight, Sault College Hairstyling Professor. “It is amazing to watch our community come together in support of a great cause. We are so proud that we were able to help many individuals, lift spirits and spread some joy during the holiday season. This has been such a rewarding and humbling experience, and we are beyond thankful to all who helped us achieve our goals,” she adds.

This year’s event would not have been possible without the donations of time and talent of many local stylists. “With 20 community stylists and nine student volunteers, we are overwhelmed by the outpour of generosity and commitment,” notes Jordin.  “We are also very grateful for Susan Weigle who collected donations, including:  baking, treats, water, and coffee from Pino’s, No Frills, Tim Horton’s Third Line East, Food Basics Pine Street and McNabb, Metro Churchill Plaza and Second Line, which we were able to offer to our clients, students, stylists and volunteers throughout the day. Our participants also enjoyed tea donated by Melissa Whalen from David’s Tea.”

Event organizers Debbie Dunseath, Ann Wright and Jordin Boniferro-Knight would like to extend a special thank you to the following community stylists for their contribution in making this event so successful, including: Amedaoe’s Salon, Ann’s Hairstyling, Beauty by Evelyn, Bliss Salon & Spa, Erin Antonello Designs, Gatehouse Salon, Hollywood Station Mall, Identity Salon and Spa, Jackie’s Salon, Jagg Unisex Salon, June & Friends Salon, Kelly’s Family Salon, Marcello’s Salon, Oscar and Dario Barbershop, Parlour,  Shampoo Alley, Shear Magic, Sparks Salon, The Loft and Whanita.

Sault College Hairstyling program hopes to continue the annual tradition of hosting ‘Haircuts for a Cause’ and help those in need alongside our amazing community supporters.
