Hound Town

Retired local lawyer Frank Sarlo tries to capture the rich history and our community’s love affair with the Greyhounds in his new book Hound Town—one of the best Hockey towns anywhere.
Sarlo says there is such a tremendous history and apparently a number of people would agree as the initial printing of 550 books sold in just two weeks and a 2nd printing is on the way.
He says the book aims to provide some of the behind the scenes background when it comes to the Greyhounds such as the move by the Hound’s Board of Directors back in April 2011 to hire 24-year Kyle Dubas from the Sault as the club’s GM.
Sarlo says the Board took a lot of flak but it was looking to make a significant change in direction…

Sarlo says that a lot of people don’t realize that the Hounds have had more players drafted and signed to NHL contracts between 2011 and 2015 than any other CHL team.
He says it was important for the franchise and the community to build a new arena…

Sarlo has been associated with the Hound’s since the beginning of the franchise in the ’72-73 season and has been the club’s lawyer and served in different capacities such as director and part owner.
