A Sault Ste. Marie family physician will be facing a professional misconduct hearing before a panel of the discipline committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  The professional misconduct allegations against Dr. Douglas Brooks include inappropriately accessing and without consent, the health records of two patients on a number of occasions between the years 2003 and 2006 for one patient and 2003 to 2014 for a second patient.  It is also alleged that he acted as the Coroner in all or part of the investigation into a patient’s death despite a real or perceived conflict of interest due to a close personal relationship.  No date has been set for the hearing at this point and there are no practice restrictions.
