ForestFireThe number of forest fires in Northeastern Ontario continues to grow this week. Two more blazes were reported by the MNR, bringing this week’s total to at least six. Cochrane 15 and Cochrane 16 are being observed in the far north. There are 9 active fires in the region right now — 7 are being observed in the far north. The forest fire hazard for the northeast is low to high at the moment, with the greatest risk along James and Hudson Bay coasts. Outside of the province, there are 125 personnel deployed to help fight fires in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. Firefighting equipment is also being supplied by the province to assist in those efforts.
