Amazing and wonderful.  That’s how JKL Bahweting Anishinaabe School superintendent Doctor Theresa Kallstrom describes the school’s removal from its status as a ‘focus school’ — a list it has been on since 2012.  The Sault, Michigan school was on the list despite winning the Bridge Award — being in the top 25 percent of state schools and top 20 NMU charter schools.  JKL School was removed after it narrowed the achievement gap between the top and bottom performing 30 percent of students.  The state of Michigan has a goal of 85 percent proficiency for all students by the 2021-2022 school year.
