CitySSM   City council will be asked at Monday’s meeting to approve expenditures of up to 175-thousand dollars to retain a Toronto law firm representing the City’s interest in Essar Steel Algoma’s debt restructuring court proceedings.  Essar Steel entered into court protection from creditors on November 9th and at that time the City was owed 14-million dollars for 2014/15 property taxes.  Currently Aird and Berlis are preparing the City’s proof of claim as well as monitoring proceedings.
