CyclingSault Ste. Marie is about to be visited by another cyclist on Saturday night. But Katrina Olsen isn’t just another woman on a ten-speed. She’s cycling to St. John’s to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society, specifically for brain cancer research. Katrina is also cycling for her mother who is currently in remission and her father who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Olsen talks about the emotional challenge she faces with both parents fighting this disease…

Since leaving Winnipeg, reaction to Olsen’s endeavour has been mixed but primarily positive…

This is especially encouraging for Olsen as she only has a tent to go with her two wheel ride. Katrina is hoping to raise 10 thousand dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society by the time her trip is over. All of that money will go to brain cancer research. When asked about she will do when she finishes her ride, it didn’t take Olsen to respond…

A reminder, Katrina will be arriving in the Sault sometime Saturday evening before taking a day off Sunday for bike repairs. Her next stop is scheduled to be Sudbury on Wednesday. You can follow Katrina’s trek online at www.bareyourteeth.org.
