A Sault Ste. Marie woman has stepped forward looking to run for the Conservative Party in the fall federal election.
Winona Hutchinson will be seeking the Conservative nomination in the Sault Riding.

Below, you can read her news release…

Why I’m Running
I am seeking the federal Conservative nomination because I have an intense drive to see Sault
Ste. Marie prosper and grow, and I am not afraid to stand up and fight for what I believe is right.
This election is too important to sit on the sidelines or leave to chance. Our country and our
community are at a crossroad. We cannot afford to continue down this path of government
waste, mismanagement and Liberal entitlement while people in our backyard go without.
My passion to serve has made me want to be and do better for our community, to be a changing
voice to the failed policies and governance of our country under the leadership of Prime Minister
Trudeau and the non-influential presence of MP Terry Sheehan with the Liberal Party that has
prompted me to seek the candidacy for the Federal Conservative Party of Canada in 2019.
Simply put, I think it’s time for representation that delivers Sault Ste. Marie solutions, not tired
Ottawa excuses.
As a dynamic member of this city through years of activism and engagement, I currently volunteer, sit on the boards or committees of:
• Sault Ste Marie Helping Hands
• The 4th World Momokwan Martial Arts Championship Canadian Open
• Save Our Young Adults from Prescription Drug Use
• Progressive Conservative Party of Canada EDA – Delegate of Sault Ste Marie Riding
• Financial Agent for the local Electoral District Association of the Federal Conservative Party
(stepped down for nomination)
• Level IV Referee with Swim Ontario
• Extendicare Maple View Family Council
• Sault Women in Business
I am a confident independent woman, a mother, and a person who has prided herself on wearing various uniforms that represented and instilled the honor and strong work ethic of the Canadian Armed Forces beginning with the Navy League at the age of 9.
It is my varied and diverse background coupled with the ability to seek out understanding of issues from all sides which makes me an effective and solution-based advocate for the residents
of Sault Ste Marie.
My commitment to the people of this city is to develop good working relationships with other
levels of government, listen, and fight for our fair share from Ottawa. I will be an excellent partner in bringing prosperity to Sault Ste. Marie. Together, we will build a stronger community, deliver the local services and business initiatives that we need now and tomorrow.
My experience and knowledge will allow me to hit the ground running and be a contributing
Member of Parliament. I look forward to knocking on doors, engaging with people and listening
to what they have to say so I can be the best federal representative.
