International Bridge

It’s now 34 straight months of declining traffic on the International Bridge.  Crossings were down last month compared to the same month a year ago by 2.8% with all vehicle classifications down except for commercial truck traffic which increased last month by 2.8%.  Year to date, total crossings are down 11.5%.  The last time there was an increase in crossings was October 2013.
Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority General Manager Peter Petainen (peh-TYE-nen) says there are positives when you look at the revenue side rather than just total crossings thanks to the commercial truck traffic classification…

Petainen says American commercial crossings are down 2.6% while Canadian commercial truck crossings are actually up 2.5%…

The last time there was an increase in crossings overall was October 2013.
