SAULT STE. MARIE – When we asked for volunteers, we received an amazing response. But now we need to ask the community for a little bit more.
This Saturday, St. Vincent Place is holding our annual Big Blue Box Food Drive and we’d love to see the streets completely lined with donations.
If you’re not familiar with the Big Blue, all you need to do is put your donations in any box or bag at your curb by 10:00 am on Saturday, and our team of volunteers will pick it up. That’s it. Helping to fight hunger has never been easier.
If you’re unable to put your donations curbside on Saturday, you can also drop them off at St. Vincent’s Place, the YMCA, or Sault Community Career Centre any time until then.
Last year, Sault residents answered the call in a big way, donating $29,329 worth of goods to our food bank. This year, we hope to break the $30,000 mark. Every donation we collect will be used in our food bank, which helped to feed almost 2,000 families in 2017.
Thank you to all of the businesses and volunteers who have stepped up to help with this year’s food drive, including sponsors CTV and Soapy’z Car Wash, and Northside Toyota, the RCMP, and St. Mary’s College, who will be sending teams of volunteers.
