Disbelief was the first thing that went through Tim McCreight’s mind when he found out he had won the September ARCH 50/50 draw. “I leaned against the stove, and then my wife, Donna, had to say it again. I couldn’t believe it!” exclaimed Tim. On September 30, at 5:00pm, Tim’s winning ticket number of C-1187887 was drawn and he won $39,195.

Tim plans to share his winnings with his wife, Donna. Donna’s vehicle broke down, and she’s busy working 12 hour shifts for Community Living Algoma throughout the pandemic. Tim and Donna shared what they plan to spend a portion of the proceeds on. “These winnings will help us get a new car. Something so that I can keep working,” explained Donna. Donna has worked at Community Living Algoma for over 15 years, and was going to retire this past winter. But, when the pandemic hit, she thought it was important to keep working to support her community. The McCreights have a combined 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Tim, who used to paint houses for a living, now enjoys a lot of fishing around Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma. Tim thinks it’s important to support local charities – he’s cut his hair for wigs cancer a number of times, and buys tickets to all of the local charity draws. “We think it’s important to help out. We love ARCH. We’ve visited family and friends that spent their final days at Hospice. At ARCH, you make it a better experience for them. You’re doing it right.”

Supporting Hospice is easy, as the October ARCH 50/50 tickets are already on sale at www.ARCH5050.ca. The winner’s jackpot has a guaranteed minimum of $9,999, and the first three draws, winners have taken home a combined $130,000. All proceeds raised from the 50/50 go directly towards the care and support of the nearly 200 residents and their families that ARCH serves each year. October’s winner will be drawn on October 31, at 5:00pm – no trick and all treat for this month’s winner!
