The books have been closed on the search, and the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library Board announces the appointment of Matthew MacDonald as Chief Executive Officer.
As CEO Mr. MacDonald will advise the Board on setting and achieving objectives through responsible management of available resources, and engage in effective relationships with external stakeholders including City staff and Council, local agencies and library communities.
The Board’s Selection Committee was assisted in the search and evaluation of candidates by Mellissa Donofrio-Jones, Director of Ontario Library Services-North, and an agency of the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

Matthew led the Board and staff in a successful partnership with Algoma District School Board to establish the North Branch and its archives at the Boréal Hub.
The CEO Selection Committee closed their search report saying “We recognize Matthew has raised the community’s awareness, expanded programming and contributed positively to the development of staff and operations.”
We congratulate Matthew on his successful application and look forward to continued service developments for members and residents of our communities.
