Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced this afternoon the acquisition of a veteran defenceman from the Eastern Conference.

In the transaction, the Greyhounds acquire 18-year old defenceman BILLY CONSTANTINOU from the Kingston Frontenacs in exchange for a 4th Round Selection 2020 (SOO), 4th Round Selection 2021 (SOO) and 3rd Round Selection 2024 (SOO).

“We are very excited to add Billy to our blueline. Billy is a talented, smooth skating, highly-skilled right shot defensemen” began Raftis.

“Adding Billy to our defensive core was not only important for this season but we see him playing a key role in the future. We are looking forward to watching him adjust to our style of play, while adding another element to our blueline” he concluded.

Constantinou is amidst his third season in the Ontario Hockey League.
Originally selected in the 2nd Round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection by the Niagara IceDogs, Billy played parts of two seasons with the club before being acquired by Kingston last season.

In total, the 6.00, 191 lb rearguard has appeared in 119 regular season games where he has tallied 14 goals and 37 assists, good for 51 points.
Last season he was among 15 OHLers to participate in the Sherwin Williams Top Prospects game in Red Deer, ALTA and later became a free agent invite to the Los Angeles Kings main training camp this past September.
