Another energy storage project has been announced for the Sault that will benefit local businesses.
The Sault PUC is partnering with an international energy storage technology and services company on the initiative that will reduce monthly energy bills of the PUC’s largest customers while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Fluence is described as a market leader in energy storage solutions and is jointly owned by Siemens of Canada and AES Corporation and the partnership is described as the first of its kind in Canada.
PUC Supervisor of Customer Engagement Giordan Zin says the project will benefit its more than 300 Class A and B business customers and will allow them to shift their energy consumption away from periods of high demand…

What does that mean in dollar terms?..

Those are the total savings for its Class A and B customers and the life of the project is 20-years.
Zin says there are about 4 Class A customers and they include the Bondar Building and Sault Area Hospital while the over 3-hundred B customers include our city’s hotels, malls and grocery stores.
Sault Mayor Christian Provenzano says it will make doing business in Sault Ste. Marie less costly then anywhere else in Ontario.
