So, let me share, if I can without getting all choked up.
Yesterday ( Sunday afternoon) I came with some crap to put in the Radio Station garbage bin and spied Scott Turnbull’s Big Jeep cuddled in next to the back door. I surmized he was maybe inside, clearing out some of his stuff.ff. We shared this office, for decades and I moved to the Sault in 1988, with him and Elizabeth Kimber . For days we have known that Scott has hung up his headphones after 43 years in radio. Nearly 30 of those, we worked together here, in the Sault. Back in 1988, we made a pact that this was at most, a year stop on the broadcasting journey. The short tenure has turned into close to 3 decades and counting. The Sault is fabulous place to raise a family, so we have done just that.
I teased Scott that I had ‘grown up’ with him listening to 790 CKSO in Sudbury as a kid. This is a true fact. CKSO Summer Days on Ramsay Lake in the Nickel City were amazing, especially for me as a musician and singer songwriter and ‘wannabeonthe air’ radio dude.
SO, we have ‘blinked’ and Scott left the office and the building, with this particular photo in our office.
I am pretty sad this morning and now after much laughter, reality has set in. Time has flown and now, The Bear has left his Den. Radioland will never be the same my friend.
