Sault MP Terry Sheehan was joined by Mayor Christian Provenzano at out City’s Transit Garage on Huron Street this morning for a multi-million dollars infrastructure funding announcement.
More than 2.9-million dollars in funding will be directed towards three new transit projects.
Mayor Provenzano says the funding will involve a 50-50 split between our City and the feds and part of it will be used to upgrade our current transit fleet…

Sheehan says the federal funding will be available right away provided the City comes up with its share…

The feds made the 17-million dollar announcement a few weeks ago.
The new funds will be used to purchase 2 new transit buses and refurbish eight others.
The funds will also be used to carry out needed repairs to the Transit Garage, including upgrading the ventilation system, switching to LED lighting, and replacing the roof and exterior doors.
