City council didn’t have the appetite to spend extra funds and expand a current 100-thousand dollar downtown traffic study.
It would have cost an extra 65-hundred dollars to expand the study to look at safety issues when it comes to our city’s two worst intersections at Gore and Albert Streets and Andrew and Albert Streets.
There has been a spike in accidents at the two intersections ever since traffic lights were removed from the two intersections in the fall of 2016.
The City has already taken steps to bring those numbers down and continues to monitor the two intersections and believes that in time the accident numbers will come down once motorists make the adjustment to the stop signs.
