14-areas of non-compliance were identified in a recent inspection by the province’s Long-Tern Care Inspections Branch of Cedarwood Lodge—the former F J Davey Home on Great Northern Road.
The inspections were carried out over periods from mid-to-late September and in all 14 written notifications were issued along with 5 compliance orders.
Among the issues identified were failure to ensure that residents are protected from abuse by other residents, neglect of residents, failure to report suspected incidents to the home’s director of care and failure to comply with plan of care provisions which are required for each resident of the home.
Last March, an admissions suspension for Cedarwood was put in place due to 15 areas of non-compliance and was lifted in August.
The 50-bed transitional facility opened in 2015 and is designed to provide temporary placement for Sault Area Hospital patients while they await permanent placement at another long-term care home.
