On May 30, 2017, USW Local 9548 was pleased to announce that its members voted to ratify their new collective agreement, with 68% voting in favour of ratification.

The current collective agreement was set to expire on May 31, 2017 at 11:59pm.

The members voted to accept a five (5) year agreement, with increases in benefits, pension and wages, as well as language to support seniority and safety.

Also, as a further benefit, the Union negotiated a generous signing bonus and strong language around a new Company initiative called the ‘gainsharing program’, which has the potential to pay up to a 14% bonus per month on each employees gross wages.

The Union executive recommended the contract.
