A suspect wanted in connection with a robbery and kidnapping over in Sault, Michigan turned himself in to our city police yesterday morning at around 10.
The incident took place around 2:30 am yesterday at the Admiral Gas Bar at Portage and Easterday and Sault Michigan Police Department Chief John Riley says the 23-year old male suspect is a former employee of the gas bar.
Chief Riley the suspect robbed the Admiral Gas Bar of $900 cash and several cartons of cigarettes along with the gas he took and kidnapped a female clerk at gunpoint.
It is further reported that the suspect dropped the clerk off unharmed at a median on the I-75 around Kinross prior to crossing the border.
Chief Riley says one of his detecives has interviewed the suspect and determined this about the firearm used…

The suspect also explained that he got rid of the replica hand gun well before crossing into Sault, Ontario…

The unidentified suspect is currently in custody here in Sault, Ontario and is expected to have a deportation hearing sometime next week.
