OPP Conducting Investigation into Death of a Child in Elliot Lake

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On December 14, 2016, shortly after 6:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to assist Algoma District Paramedic Services at a residence located on Bailey Lane in the City of Elliot Lake.  A child who was in medical distress was transported to local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The East Algoma Elliot Lake OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the direction of Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are continuing to investigate this incident and are assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner.
The investigation is continuing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
