Liability Concerns Could Lead to the Shutdown of the Goulais Avenue/Second Line west Fountain

The City’s legal department is recommending council direct the Sault PUC to cap off and close the water fountain at the corner of Goulais Avenue and Second Line west.
Despite the fountain being well used, a report to council indicates that icy conditions in the winter make the fountain a definite hazard and poses a further liability risk to the City.  In December 2013, an individual trying to obtain water fell and was injured—-she filed a claim and settled for just under 6-thousand dollars.
The report further indicates that the City and PUC are unable to ensure the potability of the water.
