news-cops     City police say the device a local citizen brought to the police station yesterday morning for safe disposal turned out to be a grenade that was inoperative.  After initial contact with officers at the front of the Police Services Building on 2nd Line east, the device was left at the front of the building.  Police evacuated the immediate area and the City Police Explosive Disposal Unit attended to safely remove the device.  Police advise that if you can across an object that may be explosive, leave it in place and evacuate the immediate area and contact police.  Police will then remove the object.  It is possible that many devices, even those that appear to be stable may not be.
