On the 8th of August 2016 Police responded to a robbery at Mac’s Mart on Gore Street. Shortly after 330 am a lone male entered the store with a covered face while holding a knife and stole cigarettes, scratch tickets and a small amount of cash. The male then fled the area and a subsequent K9 search was negative. There were no injuries reported in this event.
On the 10th of August 2016 at 730am Police responded to a report of a theft of tools from a vehicle that was parked in a Bay Street parking lot. A vehicle was entered a short time earlier and stolen was a generator as well as a carrying cart.
Through investigation of the above incidents a suspect was identified as the person responsible and he was located walking in the downtown area by officers and arrested on Albert Street East after a short foot pursuit shortly after 10am on August 10th 2016.
Charged with the following is 25 year male old Paul Quesnel of Dennis Street.
Regarding the Macs Mart robbery:
Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Breach of Probation – fail to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
Regarding the theft from vehicle:
Theft under $5000, Breach of Probation – fail to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
The accused in this matter attended Bail court in Sault Ste. Marie regarding the above charges.
