(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) The Holodomor National Awareness tour bus will be stationed at the Ermatinger•Clergue National Historic Site (ECNHS) on Thursday, August 11.
The Holodomor National Awareness Tour is a project created to raise awareness of the Holodomor, the genocidal famine carried out in 1932-33 by the Soviet Union led by Joseph Stalin, which resulted in the deaths of millions of Ukrainians. The public is invited to board the Holodomor Mobile Classroom (HMC) during the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to learn about the genocide. Admission to the travelling exhibit is free! Visitors will participate in a 60-minute, facilitator-led educational experience featuring audio-visual presentations on a 28-foot video wall and complementary learning activities on tablets. Lessons underscore the importance of multiculturalism, human rights, and the rule of law, as well as the concept of genocide. Visitors can also learn about the Ukrainian culture through information displays and customary food (small fee) offered inside the Heritage Discovery Centre.
Free parking is available at the municipal heritage parking lot located west of the site off Queen Street East and off Bay Street at our Heritage Discovery Centre.
