Soo Greyhounds GM Kyle Raftis announced this afternoon that RYAN WARD has been named the team’s new Assistant Coach in advance of the 2016-17 season.
Ward joins Head Coach Drew Bannister and Associate Coach Joe Cirella behind the bench of the Hounds.

“We are very excited for Ryan to join the Soo Greyhounds coaching staff. He is a high energy individual that thinks outside the box.  Through his experiences, he brings a variety of abilities that will benefit not only our players but our entire hockey program” stated Raftis.

Ryan joins the Greyhounds following two years working as Video Coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies (2014-2016)

Prior to his work with MLSE, Ryan was Assistant Coach with the University of Rhode Island after spending 4 seasons as the Video Co-Ordinator with the NHL’s New York Islanders (2008-2012).
Internationally he has been Video Coach with USA Hockey at two World Hockey Championships (Cologne, Germany in 2010 and Helsinki, Finland in 2012).

“I am beyond excited to join the Soo Greyhound family. It is not every day you have the opportunity to be a part of such a storied organization, and for that I am thankful. I hope to bring my knowledge and experience to the Sault and work with Kyle, Drew and Joe to develop our players to reach their full potential on and off the ice” said Ward.

Ryan graduated in 2009 with honours from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), in Education and Human Development, Sport Management, Sports Enterprise.
