July 4th Recap .. Fireworks Injuries

Fire Works, Fingers Don’t: An Ohio man lost several fingers in a fireworks accident over the holiday weekend. 42 year-old Eric Coles was taken to the hospital, after a firecracker exploded in his hand. The incident is currently under investigation.

Give The Dog A Hand: 39 year-old Rafat Shejaeya of Chicago blew off part of his hand with a firecracker over the weekend. He lost two fingers. Cheri Steigert, a nearby nurse, was awoken by the sound of the explosion. Three hours later, her three-year-old pit bull mix Fergie brought her the missing piece of the man’s hand.

Cheri tells reporters: ” I let my dog out in the yard and she comes back trotting with something in her mouth. I actually realized before picking it up it was part of the man’s hand. It had flown from across the street into our yard … this is the first Fourth of July I’ve had off in three years, and now I’ve got body parts flying in my yard.”

Three Finger Discount: A 42 year-old woman has lost two fingers, following a fireworks “mishap” in Brooklyn. She was rushed to the hospital for a reported amputation. The woman has been listed in stable condition.

Facing Fireworks: A Nebraska man has been left with serious injuries to his hand and face, after setting off a homemade firework. Witnesses claim one of the man’s hands was severely mangled, and he had an injury to one of his eyes.

Sick Burn: A Florida man lost three fingers and severely burned himself after a firework exploded in his hand. The incident occurred while neighbors were gathered at the man’s house. Spokeswoman Sandra King says: “He’s in rough shape. It’s always very tempting for people who want to have that big display at their home. It’s dangerous.”
