The Sault’s unemployment rate is in the double digits.  The rate came in last month at 10% up from the year ago rate of 9.1%.  Despite the increase there were more people working in the Sault and that’s reflected in the employment rate which is up over 2% and is now just shy of 50%—–at 49.7%.  The Sault’s participation rate which combines the number of people employed with those unemployed but actively looking for work came in at 55.2%—-a 3% increase over the year ago rate.
