More layoffs ahead at Tenaris Algoma Tubes.  The company has announced the temporary layoff of approximately 230 employees with staggered effective dates between February 1st and 8th as it shuts down production.  After next week, Steelworkers Local 9548 President Cody Alexander says they will be left with a skeleton staff of just 8 to 10.  The company says it is aligning production level with market demand and is blaming the persistent low price of oil and consequential reduction in drilling activity, along with unfairly traded imports of tubular goods and line pipe.  Alexander says they have no orders for February or March but he also indicates that workers could be recalled unexpectedly given the volatility of the oil sector.
