APHOntario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has engaged the Institute on Governance as a consultant to work with the Board of Algoma Public Health.  The I-O-G is an independent, not for profit institution.  The Ottawa-based group has worked in the past to advance better understanding and practice of good governance in Canada.  It will work to realize two goals:  to support skill based recruitment of the District of Algoma Board of Health and to develop the tools to support skill-based boards for all Ontario boards of health.  The I-O-G will visit Algoma Public Health to begin its work next Tuesday through Thursday.
