ADSB_CLCC_Green_2_1600It was recently announced that school boards across Ontario sent warnings to parents if their childrens’ immunization records have not been updated. At the Algoma District School Board, questionnaires have just been sent to parents prior to immunization clinics taking place. But Superintendent of Safe Schools and Operations Marcy Bell says the public board’s situation is not all that troubling…

Bell says the timeline from notices to clinics and then the local health unit taking action is only a number of weeks long…

Bell credits the communication and collaboration between the ADSB and Algoma Public Health as vital in making sure students aren’t suspended for not having certain vaccinations. Numbers regarding just how many students are affected and questionnaires sent away were not immediately announced, but Bell did say that those figures in past years are ‘minimal’.
