EssarSteel   The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has ruled against a trade complaint from Essar Steel Algoma regarding steel plate from India and Russia.  The Tribunal found that the dumping and subsidizing of hot-rolled carbon steel plate and high-strength low-alloy steel plate have not caused and are not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry.  As a result of the ruling, anti-dumping and countervailing duties will not be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency.  The tribunal will issue the reasons for its finding on January 21st.  Essar Steel Algoma Communications Spokeswoman Brenda Stenta says they are very disappointed with the ruling and the serious ramifications this will have for the Canadian steel industry.  Essar Steel Algoma is currently going through a restructuring process under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
