OPP           Project Lifesaver has been expanded locally.  The project that began back in 2012 as a partnership involving city police and Sault Search and Rescue has been expanded to now include the Sault OPP for our area.  The project uses radio transmitting bracelets to quickly locate individuals with cognitive disorders who are at risk of wandering—–those with Alzheimer’s disease, autism and Down syndrome. Those that participate in the program will be given a bracelet that has an individual ID frequency that can emit a signal reaching 1 to 2 kilometres. Sergeant Keith Nicolle is with the OPP’s Emergency Response Team in the region and he says it will complement the existing city police program…
