CitySSM   City council will be asked at Monday’s meeting to approve a 37% increase in the building permit fee which would take effect as of the beginning of the new year——-it’s one of three options presented in a staff report and it is the recommended option.  A second option calls for just a 25% increase in 2016, with further increases over the next 4-years of 25%, 10%, 2% and 2%.  It would also require that the current annual 85-thousand dollar rent expense the Building Division pays to the city be terminated.  A third option calls for a phased in increase of 16% over 5-years.  It would mean using up the remaining reserves and more than 122-thousand dollars would be needed from the city property tax levy in 2016 with additional tax dollars required over the following two years before becoming self sustaining.
