CatholicBoardTrustees with the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board chose their chair and vice-chair on Wednesday night.  Leslie Cassidy-Amadio was acclaimed to remain the board chair, while John Caputo was elected to serve again as vice-chair, defeating challengers Kathleen Rosilius and Gary Trembinski in the vote.  Prior to her acclamation, Cassidy-Amadio said that she really enjoyed the past year in her position.  Before the vote, Caputo thanked the trustees for their support in the past year and that he had a lot to learn, such as preparing the agenda and his involvement with the administration staff.  Caputo also described the vice-chair as a ‘position of promotion’ — preparing him for when someone eventually becomes the chair.  After his election, Caputo thanked the trustees for choosing him and Cassidy-Amadio in leading the charge for catholic education for the forseeable future.  He mentioned that these are exciting times for the Catholic board, with the opening of the new St. Mary’s College.  However, Caputo added that there are challenges ahead in the next year or two, with the expected downsizing in the number of schools.
