SaultMINew parking rules for Sault, Michigan go into effect on Tuesday — rules that include an overnight parking ban.  Parking is prohibited on odd numbered sections of any street.  There are certain sections of streets that are not affected:

— Ashmun Street between Easterday and West Portage

— West Portage between Gov. Osborn and Ashmun

— Bingham Avenue between East 6th and East Easterday

— Peck Street between West Portage and Fort

— Ridge Street between Magazine and Gov. Osborn

— East Portage between Bingham and Mission

— and street segments where signs are currently posted to prohibit parking on one or both sides, streets with designated metered parking spaces or permit parking spaces.

During the winter season, there will also be no parking allowed on any street or alley between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The only exceptions to these rules are physicians, ambulance drivers or undertakers on emergency calls.  Anyone who violates the winter parking restrictions faces a fine of between 25 and 50 dollars.
