CatholicBoardThe Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is hosting a Meditation Conference on Monday.  The full day event includes facilitator and Christian meditation pioneer Ernie Christie.  The Austrlian native and Doctor Cathy Day created Christian Meditation with Children more than a decade ago.  Meditation exercises have been integrated into a number of schools with success. Christie is the author of ‘Coming Home:  A Guide to Teaching Children Faith-Based Meditation’ and is a Director of Learning, Teaching and Catholic Identity in his native Australia. The conference will involve catholic educators from across Northeastern Ontario and runs from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre.

It’s the beginning of a new era in fundraising.  Monday is the first day of the ‘Heaven Cent’ campaign at St. Mary’s College.  The official kickoff happens just after 12:00 noon in the school commons area.  The campaign is a rebrand of the ‘Pennies From Heaven’ campaign that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over more than two decades at St. Mary’s.  In addition to several student activities — such as sports events and dress-down days — the 2015 campaign also feautres the annual Pasta Dinner, that will take place at Grand Gardens North next Monday, December 7th.
