Allstate Canada recently conducted its 7th annual Safe Driving Study.  The study was released on Thursday and offered mixed results.  While Ontario experienced an 8.4 percent increase in collision claims, Sault Ste. Marie was ranked 16th out of 81 communities studied with a collision frequency rate of just over 4.8 percent.  That figure is below the national average of 5.57 percent.  According to the study, that’s a 7.3 percent increase in collisions in Canada.  Ontario was home to seven of the 10 safest cities in Canada.  That list includes the Greater Sudbury community of Chelmsford, number 2 on that list after a 23 percent decrease in collision claims from last year.  Spruce Grove, Alberta had the lowest collision frequency rate of 3.43 percent.  Among the worst cities to drive in were Ottawa and two Greater Toronto communities — North York and Ajax.
